In some regions where winds are abundant, wind power could be considered as a reliable source of energy. Access to this energy in the form of electricity generation remains limited however, due to the erratic and intermittent nature of wind. Grid stability hampers significantly the amount of wind electricity that can be fed into a distribution system. Indeed, with the most advanced and interconnected grids a country like Denmark could integrate 42% of its total electricity supply from wind in the year 2015. This remains a limited alternative compared to the wind resource availabilities and environmental challenges ahead. Our efforts are therefore focused on the deployment of technologies that can maximize the economic impact of this resource in the region, via industrial synergies and as part of an integrated strategy in the fight against global climate change.
